Dr. Cory Haberman

Keynote Speaker


Dr. Cory Haberman is an Associate Professor and Director of the Institute of Crime Science in the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati. He earned his PhD in Criminal Justice from Temple University in 2015. His research applies a crime science perspective to explore why crime occurs in specific places and times, and how that knowledge can be used for prevention. As an action researcher, Dr. Haberman frequently partners with public safety stakeholders to ensure his work has practical, real-world impact.

Dr. Eric Piza

Dr. Eric Piza is the Lipman Family Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice, Director of Crime Analysis Initiatives, and Co-Director of the Crime Prevention Lab at Northeastern University. His research agenda focuses on the spatial analysis of crime patterns, evidence-based policing, crime control technology, and the integration of academic research and police practice. Before entering academia, Dr. Piza served as the GIS Specialist of the Newark, New Jersey Police Department, responsible for the day-to-day crime analysis and program evaluation activities of the agency.

Melissa is the Founder/CEO of DeVille and Associates, LLC, in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. With an extensive background spanning over 30 years, Melissa delivers comprehensive consulting and training services to law enforcement agencies nationally and globally. Her areas of expertise encompass intricate subjects such as criminal forensics, cryptocurrency, dark web, social media, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and linkage analysis, with a primary emphasis on the investigation of human trafficking, child exploitation, child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC). Melissa is also a Ph.D. candidate at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
